Document shortcuts

These shortcuts work almost anywhere you can type — Pages, Mail, TextEdit, Notes, and most text fields on the web. They cover formatting, moving the insertion point by word, line or paragraph, selecting text without touching the trackpad, and resizing or aligning what you have selected.

The Control-key combinations in this section are the ones macOS inherited from Unix: Control-A for the start of a line, Control-E for the end, Control-K to delete everything to the end of it. Apple notes that some of these shortcuts only work in some apps.
